To most people it would probably be surprising to know that Neil James had been an insecure and shy boy when he grew up. To Neil that had never seemed that unusual. He was ten years old when a teacher caught him acting out a scene from his favorite movie. The teacher had been more than surprised to see the ease with which Neil was acting in front of the other kids, Neil who was usually so quiet and reserved. That's when it was discovered that while quiet at school, Neil would hardly ever stop talking at home, sometimes even driving his family insane when all they wanted was some peace.

It didn't take long after that before he was involved in almost every school plays and he had built a good circle of friends around him. Most of the time he was the more silent of his group but he had finally found people who understood him and it gave him a new confidence that his parents had been hoping he'd get since he had started school.

When he was fifteen, he approached his parents about the possibility of going to an audition. They had been worried at first, not sure if their son was ready for something like that. It had taken many long discussions before they had finally reached an agreement. They would support Neil's choice as long as it didn't get in the way of his school. Eager to do something he loved, Neil had agreed to their conditions and soon he was traveling the country in hope that someone would notice him.

Through the years, Neil managed to get small roles. Nothing that would allow him to make a living out of it but he was happy none the less. He was getting to do something he loved while living a normal life. Everytime he stepped on the set of a movie or a tv show, no matter how small the role, he felt more alive than ever. Everytime he could feel all his insecurity flying away and he became his character.

It wasn't until he was casted in bigger production that people began to truly notice him. He didn't have girls chasing him down the street but he could some respect coming from the directors and he was beginning to get offers for roles instead of him chasing them. When he was offered a role in the tv show Blood ties, he knew that things were going to change. He was invited to con and people were recognizing him on the street. That's when he finally realized that maybe he could do something great with this.

Sitting in his apartment in Los Angeles, Neil looks out the window and smiles.
